TCP is Awarded ENERGY STAR PARTNER OF THE YEAR

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) have named Technical Consumer Products, Inc (TCP) the 2009 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Lighting Product Manufacturer for TCP’s outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing and helping to educate consumers about those products. TCP’s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. on March 31, 2009.

“The Department of Energy is proud to recognize TCP, as they represent notable progress or sustained excellence in working to secure our energy future. In 2009, our partners receiving these awards demonstrated superb commitment to advancing the adoption of energy efficient products and addressing our environmental challenges," stated Richard H. Karney, DOE ENERGY STAR Program Manager.

TCP, Inc has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 1999 and will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing CFL’s, Residential Light Fixtures and LED’s that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government backed symbol of energy efficiency. In 2008, TCP introduced over 140 new ENERGY STAR qualified CFL’s and 25 new ENERGY STAR qualified LED Decorative Light Strings. Additionally, TCP's 2009’s efforts will introduce innovative and green CFL and LED products to the market place, aiding in reducing dangerous emissions into our atmosphere, while adding beautiful energy efficient light to our businesses and homes.

TCP, Inc is an active sponsor of the EcoZone® green schools initiative in conjunction with CBS media and EcoMedia, proud promoter of Earth Day and member of the United States Business Council of Mayors, confirming TCP’s commitment to sustainability through education and energy efficient quality products.

The 2009 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from more than 12,000 organizations that participate in the voluntary ENERGY STAR program.

“EPA is pleased to recognize TCP for leadership in addressing global warming through greater energy efficiency,” said Kathleen Hogan, Director of the Climate Protection Partnerships Division at the U.S. EPA. "By promoting their products that have earned the ENERGY STAR, TCP is showing customers that we can boost our nation’s energy efficiency and reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, while producing quality products.”

What makes a product ENERGY STAR? ENERGY STAR products are the same or better than standard products, only they use less energy. To earn the ENERGY STAR, they must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Energy. Since they use less energy, these products save you money on your electricity bill and help protect the environment by causing fewer harmful emissions from power plants. And you get the features and quality you expect.
